Kimberly-Clark was founded in 1872 in Neenah, Wisconsin by four young businessmen with $30,000 capital and a goal of producing high quality newsprint. In 1920, Kimberly-Clark started manufacturing a creped cellulose wadding material named cellucotton. This was first used as bandages for wounded soldiers in the First World War and then led to the development of Kotex® feminine pads and Kleenex facial tissues. Huggies® diapers were introduced by Kimberly-Clark in 1978, followed by incontinence products in 1980.
In 1995, Kimberly-Clark merged with Scott Paper, a toilet tissue manufacturer founded in Philadelphia in 1879 and the $9.4 billion merger created the global consumer products company that exists and is developing today.
In 2010, Kimberly-Clark is driving its business with clear objectives and strategies. It is achieving against its ambitions to be a winning, global health and hygiene company with a passionate focus on customers, shoppers and users. Our success stems from placing consumers, users and customers at the centre of everything we do. By nurturing and growing our core brands, and creating new markets
